Choice

I am, and always have been, completely and strongly pro-choice. I grew up in a time when abortions were illegal. I had a friend in college who had to go out of the country in order to obtain a safe abortion. I still remember those times and am appalled at the thought that this country might return to those ways – back room clandestine procedures for those who can’t afford to go elsewhere for a procedure, doctors being prosecuted for performing abortions. We must continue to be ever vigilant to defend a woman’s right to choose at a time when that right is threatened

I have been a member of Planned Parenthood for longer than I can remember. When I was Manager of Safety for Denver, there were large demonstrations at the Planned Parenthood location in central Denver. I made sure that the Denver Police Department provided protection to individuals entering and leaving the facility and that the protesters maintained the required distance from individuals entering the facility. I personally went out to the facility to observe and make sure all that could be done was being done to protect the rights of the organization and those using the services provided.

I support NARAL and its efforts to make sure that a woman’s right to choose is not eroded by the current administration despite its best efforts. I will do everything in my power, if elected, to make sure that Colorado does not pass legislation restricting a woman’s right to choose.
